Hey everyone my name is Aaron and I am
from the mid-west, Illinois and Indiana to be more specific, where
there is lots of corn and lots of humidity. I am excited to join
the Camp T team and contribute to the goal of reaching kids for
Christ. I have had a passion for Christ and the outdoors ever since
I was a child; I went to Greenville College where I studied Recreation
Leadership and Art/sculptor. My hobbies are running, creating art,
mtn. biking road biking, fly fishing, climbing, white water kayaking,
and just sitting and talking over a good cup o coffee/tea. I have
a girlfriend named Sarah who lives in Michigan. I also have a puppy
dog named Lucy. I am excited to meet you all and there is more to
me than what is listed above but you'll just have to find that out
in person. I will however leave you with one of my favorite quotes
by John Muir.
Hiking - I don't like either the word or
the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not hike!
Do you know the origin of that word 'saunter?' It's a beautiful
word. Away back in the Middle Ages people used to go on pilgrimages
to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which
they passed asked where they were going, they would reply, "A
la sainte terre,' 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as
sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy
Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike'
through them.
