THE CAMP T STORY

Bill and Dana Darrough's vision for Camp Timberline grew out of a late-night talk they had over 20 years ago. They talked about their dream to start a youth ministry that combined God, mountain adventure, and sports in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.  God opened wide the door for this vision in 1996 when the Camp T property was purchased.  Camp welcomed the first campers in the summer of 1997 with 250 kids.  Under the watchful eye of the Lord, Camp T has now grown to nearly 2000 campers every summer.  Our campers come from all over the United States, as well as many foreign countries, to have the time of their lives and to be introduced to, or be strengthened in their walk with Jesus Christ.

REACHING AND STRENGTHENING KIDS FOR CHRIST THROUGH SPORTS & MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE

The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Scripture was uniquely, verbally, and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and was given through the instrumentality of chosen men. We hold that the Scriptures are infallible and without error in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

There is only one, true, Holy God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit– each of whom equally possess all the attributes of the Deity.

Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, and the second Person of the Trinity, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Thus, He is both God and Man, united in one person forever. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of all men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of the Father, where He, the only Mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

Man was originally created in the image of God. Man sinned by disobeying God– thus, he was alienated and separated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation. Man’s nature is corrupt and in need of the saving grace of God.

The salvation of man is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony, and must be personally appropriated by repentance and faith.

A genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ is a life of holiness and obedience, attained by believers as they submit to the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity. At the point of salvation the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer.

The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying Scripture. His power and control are appropriated by faith, making it possible for the believer to live with Christ-like character and to bear fruit for the glory of the Father.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost. Jesus Christ will come again to earth–personally, visibly, and bodily–to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

The Lord Jesus commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of the Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us" (Ephesians 5:2).

The beauty of God’s creation has long been a source of spiritual encouragement. The Rocky Mountain scenery along with the counselors committment to seek truth and extend kindness provide an environment ideal for spiritual growth. Morning and evening devotions, as well as prominent guest speakers, aid in the growth process providing practical study and application. Camp Timberline allows kids to grow at their own pace, without pressure, by simply meeting them where they are in their spiritual journey with love and acceptance. Campers explore God’s written word and discuss personal application and principles in the midst of facing daily challenges of the world.
