Last week I made a trip up to the Camp T property in Estes Park. As we pulled up to the gate I was struck by how quiet and still everything was. It was beautiful, calm and peaceful, but something was missing.
During the summer months I become accustomed to the hilarious sounds of camp. I become accustomed to thunderous cheering when a camper finishes the high ropes course. And the sound of laughter as a counselor pulls her shorts up ridiculously high to remind a cabin of 14 year old girls to, "keep your pants high and your standards higher."
Some days you'll hear a judge from the blob competition introducing the, "swaggiest, most impressive back flip known to man." These sounds are the most captivating sounds I know. These noises, this joyful commotion is how I think the world is supposed to sound. All summer I get to hear kids being kids, and kids being free.
Only 37 more days until these glorious sounds once again fill the pristine property of Camp T. 37 more days of opening my mail without kissing a moose. 37 more days of no snack shack. 37 more days of "too quiet" camp.
Trust me, you can not possibly get here fast enough! Bring it on 2016. We are ready for you!
