BEYOND TIMBERLINE
WILDERNESS BACKPACKING

AGES 13-18

Beyond Timberline is Camp Timberline's week-long backpacking trips for kids
ages 13 - 18. Whether it's your first time on the trail or you are a seasoned trekker, Beyond Timberline has a trip that will fit your skill set. BT is designed to guide campers into the wilderness to experience our Creator through his creation in a way that only the wilderness could provide. There are three different types of trips to choose from. See below for a list of different trips.

BT PROGRAMS

Never backpacked before? Perfect! The Basic BT trip is specifically designed for campers who have never spent a night out on the trail. Campers will spend 4 nights and 5 days on the trail with a night spent at resident camp on both ends of the trip. Our highly trained, professional guides will lead a co-ed group of 10 campers on a trail in the Rocky Mountain National Park, or one of the surrounding wilderness areas.

Campers will learn all the basics of having a fun and safe week in some of Colorado's most incredible wilderness. Campers will learn how to set up and take down tents properly, how to cook a delicious backcountry meal on a camp stove, properly pack an internal frame backpack, navigate with a topo map, safely cross rivers and steep terrain, and so much more! Don't miss out on this trip of a lifetime.

BASIC BT TRIP
ADVANCED BT TRIP

The advanced BT trip is designed for campers who have completed a Basic BT trip or equivalent and are ready to take their wilderness skills to the next level. Campers will learn and be responsible for cooking their own meals, navigating with a map and compass, and leading the group for an entire day. The Advanced BT trip spends 5 nights out on the trail as opposed the the basic trips 4 nights. Campers will attempt 2 mountain summits as well as an extended distance traveled. If you are ready to be challenged and grow your leadership skills, the advanced trip is for you.

2 WEEK COLORADO TRAIL
ADVANCED TRIP

The two week Colorado Trail advanced trip is designed for campers who have completed a basic BT trip (or equivalent) and ideally have been on our one week advanced trip. Campers will get a taste of advanced backpacking by hiking on one of America's most sought after trails. The trip begins with a fun team bonding day in Estes Park as the group enjoys their last night at camp before setting off on trail. Campers will then head out onto the CT to tackle the four most scenic sections of this epic trail. Under the supervision of our professional guides, campers will be challenged as they are asked to navigate and lead the group for several days. Mid-trip, the group will hike into the town of Breckenridge for a food re-supply. After getting re-stocked, they will head back on the trail to reach their extraction point near the town of Leadville, CO. This trip is for backpackers who are ready to be tested and want to grow in their leadership skills and abilities. Space is very limited so register early.

BT FAQ'S

WHAT DO YOU EAT WHILE ON THE TRAIL?

Great food! You will be surprised at what your guides can whip up on a backcountry stove. We do not eat those pre-packaged freeze dried meals. We make meals just like you would at home... with some backcountry flair! Some examples include: Pancakes, Burritos, Chili, Pasta, Brownies and so much more!

HOW HEAVY ARE THE PACKS?

As heavy as you allow them to be! Each camper will be responsible for carrying his/her own clothes and personal items as well as some group gear and food including: sections of a tent, pieces of the cookware, and a full meal. Although campers can't influence how heavy their group gear is, they can greatly reduce the weight of their pack by packing as little as needed, and only packing light weight clothing. The average pack typically weighs around 30-35 lbs.

WHO ARE THE GUIDES?

Beyond Timberline guides are Camp Timberline counselors who have shown exemplary skills and abilities in leadership and responsibility. BT guides go through an additional week of training (on top of the two weeks that a camp counselor does) to learn the unique aspects of this incredible program. BT guides are all Nationally certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR.

DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?

No. We provide all the necessary equipment for your wilderness adventure. You are only responsible to pack proper clothing. Click HERE for a complete packing list for your BT trip.
