Appreciated Securities
Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs)
Donating securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year are popular options for donating to a non-profit like Camp T. Charitable giving through these assets offers you the chance to support our work while realizing important tax benefits for yourself. When you donate appreciated securities or mutual funds in support of our mission, you can reduce or even eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the transfer. You may also be entitled to a federal income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the securities at the time of the transfer. Now you know!

Donor Advised Fund
Simplify our giving with a DAF

A donor advised fund (DAF), is a fund you pull from to give. It’s like a charitable savings account, giving you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Camp Timberline. You can contribute cash, securities or other assets* to your DAF account for a tax deductible contribution. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts. You receive an immediate income tax deduction when the funds are transferred to the DAF. It’s like having a gift card that you spend when you want and you get a tax break too! Tangible personal property such as valuable antiques, stamp and coin collections, art, cars and boats may be able to be gifted and sold to benefit your fund.

Qualified Charitable Distribution
An IRA Rollover

This popular option is known as an IRA rollover to charity, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short. If you need to make an annual distribution from your IRA, satisfy all or a part of your obligation by giving to Camp T! No matter your age, you can designate Camp Timberline as the beneficiary of all or a percentage of your IRA and it will pass to us tax-free after your lifetime. If you are 70 ½ years old or older, you can give any amount (up to a maximum of $108,000) this year from your IRA. The amount is not included in your ordinary income and not taxable! Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making at Camp Timberline.
Contact your IRA administrator for a change-of-beneficiary form or download a form from your provider’s website.

Legacy Giving: Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts
Make an impact that resonates for generations to come.

Legacy giving creates powerful, philanthropic gifts beyond your lifetime, amplifies your impact and builds an enduring tribute to loved ones. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder after all other provisions are specified. This type of donation in your will or living trust helps ensure that we continue Bill and Dana’s dream to reach and strengthen kids for Christ for generations to come.

Thank you for considering this impactful and enduring gift for the future of our ministry!

Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Honor Someone Special With a Gift in Their Name

If you have a loved one who has been impacted by Camp Timberline, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor them or celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday, while supporting our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will extend the legacy of your loved one and will make a difference.

Outright Gift or Bargain Sale
Turn Your Treasures Into a Charitable Legacy

Your treasures like valuable antiques, stamp and coin collections, works of art, cars, boats and other personal property can make suitable charitable gifts today or after your lifetime. The financial benefits of the gift depend on whether Camp Timberline can use the property in a way that is related to our mission.

Related use property—e.g., a piece of artwork donated to an art museum—is deductible at the full fair market value. Any other property is deemed unrelated use property and the deduction would be limited to the lesser of fair market value or your tax basis in the property. If the federal income tax charitable deduction claimed for a gift of tangible personal property exceeds $5,000, you must obtain an appraisal from a qualified appraiser and submit a special IRS form with the tax return on which the deduction is claimed.

Ways to Use Property as a Donation

An outright gift. This allows you to benefit our work today and receive a federal income tax charitable deduction if you itemize.
A gift in your will or living trust. You can leave a legacy at Camp T by donating property to camp through your will or living trust.
A bargain sale. You can sell us your property for less than the fair market value of the item. For example, if you sell us an antique for $30,000 that is worth $50,000, you will receive a federal income tax charitable deduction of $20,000 plus the payment from Camp T of $30,000.
