HEALTH AND SAFETY

Since 1997, Camp Timberline has existed to reach and strengthen kids for Christ through sports and mountain adventure.  Our purpose is no different in 2022. The feel of camp and our intentional care for your children will always stay the same.

As we continue carefully planning for Summer 2022, all health decisions are being researched and made under the guidance of CDC resources, the American Camping Association (ACA) and the Association of Camp Nursing (ACN) recommendations, as well as our state and local health department guidelines.

Below you will find information in regards to our health procedures for Summer 2022, updated on July 15th:

Camp Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs)

  1. Mask Policy: Masks are optional this summer at Camp Timberline for both staff and campers.

  2. Ventilation: We are grateful that camp has and always will take place largely in outdoor environments. When indoors, windows and doors will be open whenever possible to increase airflow and ventilation.

  3. Sleeping Arrangements: Campers and staff will sleep head-to-toe in the cabin to allow 6’ or more space when sleeping.

  4. Hygiene Policies: High touch surfaces such as counters, door knobs and sinks will be disinfected daily with EPA recognized cleaning products for disinfecting Covid and other viruses.

  5. Hand Washing: All staff and campers will wash hands before each meal on top of using hand sanitizer at meal times.

  6. Testing: Camp Timberline will provide rapid antigen testing to any staff or campers that present 1 or more major symptoms or 2 or more minor symptoms (see below).

*Camp Timberline will not require vaccination for staff or campers to attend camp.

There are many different scenarios involving Covid and camp this summer. Please call if any questions arise, but here are two that may occur prior to your session at camp this summer:

Scenario 1: Camper has been diagnosed with Covid-19 prior to time at camp.

Camper may still attend camp if:

  • It’s been5 days from onset of symptoms or positive test;

  • PLUS symptoms have improved during the 5 days;

  • PLUS the camper is fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours by the end of the 5th day.

Camper may not attend Camp Timberline if the above criteria are not met.

Scenario 2: Camper has been in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19

Camper may attend camp if:

  • 5 days pass and no symptoms develop and negative test is obtained on day 5.

  • OR 10 days pass and no symptoms develop.

  • OR the camper is fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with a primary series and boosted, if eligible. The camper should be monitored for symptoms and should still be tested on day 5 after exposure.

  • OR the camper has a record of being diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 90 days.

Camper may not attend Camp Timberline if the above criteria are not met.

If your camper develops symptoms at camp or on Opening Day, the following procedures will be followed:

If a camper has ONE of the MAJOR symptoms below, the camper will be immediately isolated and may be sent home as recommended by our health staff and county health department.

  1. New or worsening cough or

  2. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing or

  3. GI Issues (nausea/vomiting/diarrhea) or

  4. Temperature of 100.4° or greater

If a camper has TWO of the MINOR symptoms below, the camper will be evaluated by our health staff, deferring to the most current county health department guidelines to determine the appropriate next steps:

  1. Runny nose or congestion

  2. Headache

  3. Sore throat

  4. Loss of taste or smell

  5. Does not feel well (achy/fatigue)
